Million Dollar Road Trip

In 2010, Walter and Patrick Hessert embarked on the Million Dollar Road Trip to inspire America's entrepreneurial spirit. PilotLight worked with [whitepenny] to develop a website to tell their story and sell advertisement space on their Airstream.

To finance Walter and Patrick's trip across the country and collect money for Inspiration Grants; advertisements are being sold on the site of their Airstream. This project posed a unique challenge because the limited advertising space on the Airstream needed to be sold in different shapes and sizes -- and via the Web. To make this happen (and in a short time frame) pilotLight worked with a combination of existing tools and custom code to create a user-friendly interface for the purchase and management of advertisements.

During their trip, Walter and Patrick are giving away Inspiration Grants to America's young entrepreneurs. A custom voting application was developed to let site visitors vote for their favorite candidate online. Candidate profile information and images are added to the site via a custom content management tool that provides easy data entry and a consistent appearance throughout the site. Votes are tallied automatically and logged to help prevent against fraudulent votes.

Finishing off this project, we provided a full-featured blog engine as well as custom content management tools to manage images and text throughout the site.
